About This Style
The Dynasty is the only style we make that has a hierarchy built into it, and that is the reason people choose it.
At the centre, on a high carved throne and in the fullest regalia, sits the eldest: a full velvet robe with an ermine trimmed mantle and a tall jeweled crown. Standing at either side, in plainer mantles and smaller coronets, are the two younger heirs. The arrangement is not decorative. It says who arrived first, who has been there through the most, and who is still growing into the household.
That structure is why this portrait lands so hard for families whose animals came in stages: an older dog who was there before the children, then the one who arrived after, then the one who was never planned. The senior animal being visibly, ceremonially senior is the part that makes people go quiet when they unwrap it.
It is also the one to order when one of the three is getting old. A dynasty portrait made while all three are still in the house is a very different object a few years later.
For a three pet portrait we ask for one photo with all three animals in it. If the only pictures you have are of them separately, order anyway and say so in the order comments; we will come back to you for the extra photos before anything is made.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I say which pet is the eldest?
Name them in the order comments when you order: tell us which one takes the throne and which two stand at either side. If you say nothing we choose the animal who reads as the eldest in your photo, and you can still change it at the digital proof stage before anything is printed.
Can I order this with only two pets?
The Dynasty is composed for three. For two pets, The Duo places both on one shared throne as equals, which is the right composition for a pair rather than a squeezed version of this one.
Do the three pets need to be photographed together?
The upload step asks for one photo with all three in it, and that is the smoothest way to order. Getting three animals to look at a camera at once is famously hard, so if you only have them separately, place the order and note it in the comments. We will ask you for the other photos before anything is made, and it does not change the price.
