Your pet, printed the way comics were printed before anyone worried about quality.
Heavy black outline. Three flat inks plus black. Halftone dots you can actually see. And, critically, a slight registration offset between the colour plates, because cheap newsprint presses never quite lined up and that misalignment is most of what makes old comics feel like old comics rather than like a filter.
Behind the head sits a simple radiating burst, the oldest trick in the medium for making a subject look important. There is no text anywhere: no speech bubble, no sound effect, no title. The joke lands better when it is not explained, and text on a wall piece dates instantly.
The drawing simplifies. Interior detail is reduced to a few decisive lines, the coat becomes shape rather than fur, and the personality has to come through the eyes and the set of the ears. That is a harder brief than it sounds, and it is why the reference photo matters here more than in almost any other style: we need to see the face clearly to know what to keep.
It suits confident, characterful animals best. A dog with a big open expression or a cat with a hard stare both become something worth framing.

Will there be any words or speech bubbles?
No. The artwork carries no text of any kind, deliberately. A caption is funny once and then it is on your wall forever, and it also dates the piece to the moment it was made.
Is this based on a real comic or character?
No. We use the printing technique, which is a period production method rather than anyone's property, and we do not imitate a named artist, publisher or existing character.
My pet has a very subtle coat pattern. Will it survive?
Partly, and honestly. The style simplifies fur into flat shape, so fine ticking or faint brindling will be reduced. Strong markings, a blaze, a mask or a patch all come through clearly.
